St. John's Youth Education
St. John’s has Sunday school for youth every Sunday. The Pandemic may have slowed us down a bit, but we are off and running once again! We use an Episcopal based curriculum that follows the Church seasons and lectionary. This means Sunday school lessons align with the scripture lessons in church each week. We have one class for all students with lessons differentiated by age. St. John’s provides opportunities for our youth to become active participants in church life. Two Sundays a year are "youth" Sundays in which our youth fulfill all the worship service roles, including delivering the sermon! At Christmas time, our youth perform in a traditional Christmas pageant as part of the Christmas Eve service.
In addition to serving within the church, our students have opportunities to participate in Outreach in the community of Fallbrook. Our students assist in serving Thanksgiving meals to the elderly and helping distribute backpacks to students in need. The diocese also provides opportunities for youth to attend service projects in other areas and with youth from other churches.
At St. John’s we like to have fun too!
Opportunities just for fun in recent years included a family trip to Sea World, as well as an Easter Egg hunt, Summer Water encounter, Halloween festival with pumpkin carving and bobbing for apples, and a trip to a community theater for a special presentation of A Christmas Carol.
