St. John's New Campus
The Journey From Vision To Reality
Upon obtaining the Major Use Building Permit on July 3, 2003, fundraising has accelerated and significant gifts have been received by St. John’s for the purpose of building our new sanctuary along with parking and related landscaping for phase one. Subsequent phases will include meeting rooms, a parish hall, a columbarium and finally, the office and administration facilities. We will proceed with each phase individually and take on the next as our resources and growth allow. We know that together we can build the church of our vision.
The 4.77-acre site is located at the northeast corner of Stage Coach Lane and Fallbrook Street. On October 5, 2003, a full worship service and blessing of the site by Bishop Gethin Hughes was celebrated. Sufficient gifts have now been received for full ownership of the site.
Father Don Kroeger and six dedicated members of the St. John’s Oversight Board meet on a frequent basis to make the decisions necessary leading to commencement of construction. The vestry and many members of the congregation assist in this process.
Project Schedule for 2007-08
Our architectural firm is refining the design with many consultant inputs, while the general construction company, T.B. Penick & Sons, assist with cost estimates and sub-contractor bidding. Final construction documents and specifications are being completed.
Finally, the construction documents will be submitted to the County of San Diego for obtaining the required construction permits. After signing of contracts and decision to proceed, completion of construction is estimated to take approximately twelve months to dedication.
